Construction Documents & Specifications
Construction Documents: MEP Engineers will develop the plans required to provide duct work, piping, medical gas, fire protection, plumbing, power, lighting and other mechanical and electrical systems for your project.
Construction documents convey the building owner's intent and are closely coordinated with the client to ensure that the building design meets their desired goals. Our engineers will design and specify the equipment, lighting and controls systems to maximize the building efficiency within the restraints of the budget.
Specifications: MEP Engineers will provide specifications for materials and installation of design systems. These specifications are important to ensure the systems are installed to meet industry standards and meet codes.
Construction Administration
During construction, our engineers will verify that all materials are installed properly and in accordance with specifications. Our engineers will communicate with contractors and review all submittals, coordinate shop drawings, equipment submittals, and construction RFIs, and PRs, etc. MEP Engineers will attend construction meetings and help to resolve issues as projects move through construction.

Feasibility Studies
Feasibility Studies are performed to understand your infrastructure’s performance and what makes economic sense to improve the performance.
Our engineers will survey your existing facility and determine what components should be replaced or added to improve energy efficiency or general system operation. Cost estimates and reports may be developed to help facility owners determine if a project is feasible or should be budgeted as a future capital improvement.
We also include a code analysis of the facility and let you know what, if anything, is not code compliant if requested.

3D & Building Information Modeling
A 3D model of the duct work and piping can significantly improve coordination during design and improve the construct-ability of the final product. When a design is more thoroughly detailed, the contractor will be more likely construct the systems as the engineer intended.

Owner, Architect of Design Build Contractor
When a facility owner wants to reduce the time from concept to completion design build is the answer. MEP Engineers will work directly with contractors to create mechanical, electrical and plumbing plans. These plans may be used by the prime contractor to get accurate pricing from their subcontractors and help hold them accountable for their scope of work. This allows construction to proceed while final design details are being worked out.
Many facility owners will work directly with a general contractor who then hires MEP Engineers to create the design. This method greatly improves cost estimation because the contractor can accurately predict cost impacts of design changes. Design-build projects also do not require engineering review of alternate equipment submittals or coordination plans, because the owner and contractors' preferred equipment and designs are coordinated prior to construction.

LEED Certification
LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building, home or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high energy efficiency performance and sustainable design.
MEP engineers have experience facilitating the energy modeling and engineering related reports that are necessary for achieving LEED certification. Our engineers have successfully generated reports that achieved 10/10 energy modeling points for one of the largest LEED Gold certified projects in the state of Iowa.

Cost Estimates
MEP Engineers will evaluate the probable costs of their systems and also review the designs of others to develop detailed cost estimates. Estimation of materials and labor cost plays a critical role in successful project delivery and budgeting.

Energy Modeling
MEP engineers have extensive experience modeling the energy consumption of building systems they design. Our engineers utilize the Trane TRACE 700 program on every design to model the peak loads of a building so that the primary equipment may be adequately sized for the full range of environmental conditions experienced in the region.
Our engineers also have the ability to turn a load calculation into a full energy model which may be used by the owners to estimate their new system energy consumption.
